Itchy Extensions

When the scalp itches after hair extensions, it can have completely harmless reasons or immediate intervention may be required. We clarify when the extensions need to be removed.

During the adjustment phase, itching often occurs and disappears on its own after a few days. This is due to the temporary irritation of the hair root caused by the additional weight on your hair. If the scalp itching persists or occurs later, we will reveal the reasons and first aid measures for itchy extensions.

In our shop, you will find dreamy extensions in many colors, as well as matching care products. View Our Hair Extension Range And the best part: for new customers, there is a 5% discount on the first order. Discount code: NewCustomer5%

1. Intolerances/allergies to certain methods of hair extensions?

If your hair extensions are still itching about 48 hours after installation, there is a possibility of intolerance or allergy. Triggers can be the adhesives used to bond or glue the bondings or tape-in extensions to your natural hair, or it could be a reaction to the metal of the micro-rings.

If you tend to have skin irritations, you should first try attaching a hair strand. Cut it to the length of your hair and wear it invisibly for about a week.

If no skin reaction occurs after this week, everything is okay.

Intolerance - what should I do?

The bad news first: if you have an intolerance to your hair extensions, they need to be removed as soon as possible. This is very frustrating. However, you don't have to give up on your luscious mane. If you can't tolerate bondings/tapes, you can have micro-rings or wefts installed.

For very sensitive scalps, we recommend our clip-in extensions. They are attached to the hair for a few hours and removed before going to bed. Because the clips are not permanently connected to the hair, they do not cause any reactions. Due to their premium quality, these extensions last a long time, and you will enjoy them for a long time.

2. Extensions itching after hair washing

Your extensions suddenly itch after washing? No reason to worry. If shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and styling products are not thoroughly removed, residue can remain in the hair, causing itching. Wet connection points can also cause itching. Therefore, the hair care products must always be rinsed out of your hair extensions with plenty of water.

After washing your hair, it is important to dry the connection points with a hairdryer on a medium setting. Especially with wefts, residues of care products and water tend to accumulate in the cornrows and cause itching.

3. Extensions itching and falling out

First of all, this is an extensions emergency that requires professional help! If your extensions not only itch but also fall out along with your natural hair, they were probably attached to too thin strands of your natural hair. These strands cannot bear the weight of the real hair strands and start itching.

4. What helps with itchy extensions?

There are countless tips circulating on the internet regarding "itchy extensions." The selection of home remedies ranges from lavender oil and olive oil to hair masks and mayonnaise. Please forget about them! These fats or oils can cause the connection points to loosen, and your extensions will slip out.

We recommend soothing scalp massages to relieve itching.

Chamomile tea also calms the irritated scalp. Prepare a chamomile tea infusion, let it cool down a bit, apply it to your scalp before showering, and let it sit for about 15 minutes. This will help and protect the connection points!
